Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: For sale, a beautiful and classy Mannlicher Model 1903 Carbine in 6.5x54MS with a unique rear peep sight and front claw mount base for optics. This carbine features double set triggers, a full length stock, 17.7 inch barrel, and express style sights with an added rear peep sight. The rear peep is spring loaded allowing it to swing out of the way as the bolt handle passes by, and then spring back into place thus holding zero. These rifles were functional art. The level of craftsmanship and engineering is second to none. The rotary style magazine that is removable for service/cleaning was unique to these rifles and beautiful in design. These carbines came with a trap in the buttstock accessible thru the buttplate that held a couple rounds of the 6.5x54MS ammo in reserve and a small bore snake or waterproof matches. This particular rifle has been refinished at some point in it's life, most likely in the 1950's given the patina of the bluing. I would rate the re-blue finish at 85%. There are scattered areas that show thinning or wear but overall the finish looks good. The stock was also most likely lightly sanded and dressed up at the same time. Both of these processes were done by someone who knew what they were doing as the job is professional in appearance. The front of the trigger guard has been repaired. It was soldered right where it attaches to the floorplate of the trigger group. See pictures to see what I am describing. The double set triggers work perfectly. They adjust like they should and break cleanly and crisply. The 17.7 inch barrel has a good bore. It is just a touch dark but has very strong rifling. There is no doubt that this carbine would be deadly accurate. The front double claw scope mount appears to be factory installed but there is no way to tell for certain that I am aware of. It certainly was professionally installed. This is one classy rifle that deserves to be in any sporting firearm collection. Priced to sell!
