Description:
Presented for sale, a beautiful early Mauser sporting rifle in .35 Whelen caliber with a vintage "B. Nickel" 2.5 power scope on a double claw mount.  This example is loaded with some really neat features.  This Mauser sports a 22 1/2 inch barrel with a full length rib, a two leaf express style rear sight, adjustable double set triggers, and a "spoon handle" style bolt very popular in Europe and particularly Germany in the 1930's.  The bolt has a full length Mauser style extractor for strength and reliability.  The safety is the elongated type made to work with optics and it functions perfectly.  The scope is 2.5X and was made by "B. Nickel" and is called the "Supra" model.  It has VERY clear optics but the crosshairs have a tiny bit of fuzz to them.  These were considered top of the line hunting scopes and are often seen on high powered safari type rifles because of their strength and superior recoil resistance.  It is mounted to the rifle with a double claw mount arrangement which is very strong and allows quick and easy removal and consistent return to zero when reinstalled.  The gun overall is in excellent condition.  The matte type bluing rates a solid 97% on all the metal parts.  The bore is pristine and bright with sharp lands and grooves.  The bolt works smoothly and locks up super tight.  The trigger adjustment screw is missing, but as it sits when the trigger is set it breaks cleanly at about 1.5 lbs.  The stock is in excellent shape as well with no cracks, breaks, or repairs.  The wrist of the stock has a nice clean and sharp checkering pattern applied to aid in grip.  There are only a couple of dents on the right side of the buttstock that you can see in the pictures, excellent for a rifle over 70 years old.  The rifle weighs in right under 8lbs and the length of pull to the front trigger is 14 1/4 inches to the end of the pad.  Given the light weight of the rifle and the heavy.35 Whelen chambering, the pad is a most welcome addition to this rifle when it is shot!  This is an exceptional vintage rifle, in a caliber not often seen in rifles of this type.  It would be the perfect rifle for a collection or for someone wanting to take a rifle with class into the woods this coming deer/elk/bear season.  We have priced this rifle to sell, significantly under what one would pay to buy a comparable rifle with this level of quality workmanship and materials.
