Description:
This is an historic Civil War cased 6" pocket rated extra fine with 95%+ blue on barrel and cylinder, Vivid case colors on frame and lever. Inscribed to Roland Seeger with his Philadelphia Street address. Seeger was a Lt in the 15th Penna Cavalry. Silver is thin as in most colts made in the 1860's. Grips are excellent both fit and finish. The lieutenant’s name and street address in Philadelphia are professionally inscribed on the backstrap. Pocket mfg date 1860. Cylinder scene at 85%, cylinder finish 50% flaking not worn. All safety pins intact with a Two line Hartford barrel address.
This is a spectacular gun with a documented Civil War history.
The case has all original varnish but has a grain crack on the lid. The Colt's Patent flask is sound with no seam cracks and is functional. Flask and Colt’s Patent bullet mold are rated very good to fine. Eley Cap tin excellent with a piece of label missing. The 6 pack of cartridges rated fine.
The gentleman was a Philadelphia Quaker who rose from Pvt to Lt. during his period of enlistment. In addition to the case and accoutrements, there is a loose leaf book with his personal data and a history of his regiment. It includes a photo of officers but do not believe he is one of them.
