Description:
For sale, an interesting antique Belgian double action revolver chambered for a rimmed 10mm cartridge.  This revolver was made circa 1880's to 90's in Belgium for the commercial market or possibly private purchase military use.  These little revolvers were quite popular both in Europe and the U.S. as they had a reputation for being well made but affordable compared to the Colt's and Smith and Wesson's of the day.  These D.A. revolvers were often in large calibers for the size of the gun and this one is no exception.  This was because the primary intended use was for self defense and/or military use, and at that time the larger the bullet the better a man stopper it was considered.  This Belgian revolver has some neat features that helped sell the gun.  This example has a safety lever built into the left side that locks the trigger and hammer.  The up position is fire and the down position is safe.  The butt of the gun has a lanyard ring on a solid round base.  This feature served 2 purposes, the first being that you could attach this revolver to your holster or belt and prevent loss in the heat of battle.  The second purpose was to make it a more effective club weapon if needed.  This revolver has been well used but still locks up tight and functions 100% to original specs.  It would work in both single action mode and in double action firing.   At some point in it's life it was re-nickeled and a very large percentage of that finish remains on the metal parts.  The one piece wrap around grips are checkered walnut and very attractive.  They are not broken, cracked, or repaired.  The original factory checkering is in good condition with only a couple of small spots where the borders have worn down a little.  As you can see in some of the pictures all of the Belgian proofs including the Liege black powder proof are still visible on the barrel, frame, and the back of the cylinder.  The loading gate snaps open and closed properly and the swing out ejector rod works perfectly.  There are two stamped numbers on this gun, one is on the frame and is "1525", and the other is "14" stamped on the side of the barrel.  "14" is possibly the model number, with "1525" probably being the serial number.  There is no maker name or trademarks that I can find on the gun.  The bore and cylinder bores on this revolver are in excellent shape!  They are just a tad dark but the rifling is strong, and the lands and grooves are deep and sharp.  This is just a really cool antique revolver with lots of character and history. This would be a great addition to any antique firearms collection or perfect for use as a decorator/conversation piece. We have priced it to sell!!
