Description:
Illustrated at pp 106-110 and the only pair of 12-bore shotguns noted in Jonathan Kirton's recently published monograph, DANIEL FRASER Gun and Rifle Maker of Edinburgh.

This fabulously rare pair of guns were finished in 1893 for Henry Clay Pierce of Saint Louis, Missouri, oil baron and one of the four richest men in the USA in the late 19th Century. Pierce founded the Waters-Pierce oil company. The Waters-Pierce oil company was acquired by John D Rockefeller's Standard Oil in 1896 following the successful prosecution of the company and Pierce by the State of Texas for violation of anti-trust laws.

Overall these guns are in superb original carefully and sparingly used condition, and represent a never-to-be-repeated opportunity to acquire the finest known pair of 12-bore shotguns by this reowned maker known for his achieving the highest levels of craftsmanship and elegance.
