Description:
Serial #284704, .38 Special, 6” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This round-butt revolver has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, barrel, extractor, and yoke with the metal retaining 90-95% of the original nickel finish with some light flaking at the muzzle, a few small impact marks along the edges of the topstrap, and a moderate turn-ring on the cylinder. The hammer and trigger retain most of their vivid original color case-hardening with some trace fading along the edges. Additionally, the ejector rod is very slightly bent, making the extractor stick a bit depending on which chamber is in battery. The checkered, diamond-center, walnut grips are correct and numbered to the gun on the interior. They are in very good shape with minor handling marks and blemishes on either side, as well as moderate flattening of the points. The revolver is accompanied by a 2016 dated S&W factory letter listing a ship date of June 18, 1918 to Schoverling, Daly & Gale Co. in New York City. Rates fine-near excellent condition overall.
