Deringer Peanut is a true peanut size measuring 4 1/2" overall with a 1 5/8" barrel, it is .45 caliber. It is marked over the breech and on the lock "J. DERINGER/PHILADELA", there are 2 sunburst lines on the left breeh flat, but no "P". All wood is sound with checkering in nice condition. The gun has very nice original blue on lock, hammer, breech and tang, which is correct for this gun, only small traces of brown finish remain on the barrel with some very fine discoloration and pitting on right of the barrel near the muzzle. The barrel has stamped on the right side just forward of the breech "STEEL/WART". Slotterbeck Bros. advertized this fact and described other makers including Henry Deringer as using wrought iron in their barrels. The #5 is stamped on the toe of the trigger guard, this was an inventory number system used by most San Francisco dealers. All German silver fittings are original. One of the better examples of this Deringer Copy, and seldom seen in this small size and condition. ?Price $3,250.00 Free Shipping in USA SOLD Antique: Yes |
