Description:
#4996 Colt 1877-D/A “Thunderer”, ultra-rare 2”x41COLT, 16XXX (manufactured in 1879, third year of production and being the so called “Storekeeper or Sheriffs Model”, made without ejector. Only the super-scarce 1-1/2” length is rarer (most of these ejectorless ‘77s are 3-1/2” barrels), but these shorties can only be seen (if at all) at the biggest, most prestigious gun shows. The barrel is SO SHORT that the two-line address on this length is on the SIDE of the barrel! VG action, functioning well both on S/A and D/A, and VG+ bore. Exterior retains just faint traces original nickel blending in to basically smooth grey metal with some scattered light pitting. VG+ standard two-piece checkered hard rubber grips that fit well and most likely are the originals. They have about 10-20% wear but no chips or cracks and are in total character with the revolver. This is an early production gun, and overall a very, VERY scarce Thunderer that should make a fine addition to a Colt D/A collection (….especially since the 1877 was the first model of the Colt D/As!!) and comes with the Colt factory letter which is now over $100 just by itself. VG as described. $2195
