#6841, Alex Martin, 26 Exchange Square, Glasgow: Alexander Martin 12 Bore "2" Chambered Boxlock Ejector Game Gun that was made about 1943, 26" Ejector Dovetail Lump barrels at .731 .003 & .014" (Skt.I & Open Mod.), 2" Original chambers, Wall thickness on the right barrel at .027" & .026" on the left, Birmingham Nitro Proved at 1 1/8 ounce, Double triggers, Splinter forend, Straight hand stock at 14 3/4 x 1 5/8 x 2 1/8" over a 7/8" leather pad with plugs for easy removal, Cast-off for the right hand, 2" Game Gun weight at 5 lbs. 9 oz., 90% engraving coverage, This piece was completely redone in England including the case colors and came to these shores as is, The barrels have been reblacked and now at 100%, Fresh case colors and now at 100%, The stock finish redone and is at 97%, The checkering is at 99%, The barrels inside & out are excellent plus, It is cased in a modern leather cornered trunk. Here is a doggone nice 2" Cartridge Gun that is a pure joy to use in the Grouse & Woodcock dense covers and you can carry it all day a long ways from the road. //////////////////////////////////// The Alexander Martin firm began in Paisley in 1837 and later moved to Glasgow. In 1902 they joined with Alexander Henry but both operated under their own names. The firm in modern times was run by Sandy Martin, but in 1965 it was sold to John Dickson & Son Ltd. One of their special guns was the Martin Rib-Less game gun. The Martin name lives on to this day at dicksonandmacnaughton.
