Holland & Holland falling block built on a very early Field's action . .500-.450 cal.
This rifle is a prime example of a plain finish H&H that went there and did that. The wood is oil soaked and shows signs of heavy honest use. There is an added cross screw through the point of the checkering. A small crack at the base of the bottom tang.. The wood is srunk away from the head. and there is a small toe chip repair. The forend still has the original horn tip.
The exterior is a even patina with some pin point pitting in areas .
The Holland name and address are still clearly ledgable although faint on the barrel as well as the " Winner of all the Field trails 1883"
Holland & Holland is engraved on the left side of the receiver.
Now for the good news. The insde of this rifle is in very good condition . The mecankics are wonderful and the rifleing is smooth.. While it saw many miles it was used by some one that valued it's function.
