Description:
#4890 Colt 1860 Army revolver, 44cal percussion, 117XXX serial range (1863), Good bore, about a 5-6 on a scale of 10 and should easily clean to a 7. The action barely indexes and does not rotate completely and lock up unless it is tipped forward. So it obviously needs a handspring as well as a cylinder bolt and possibly needing the hammer notch deepened slightly since it has far too much of a hair trigger. Good barrel markings, but does have a rear sight mortise cut through the rear portion of that address line. Typically worn and deep pitted cylinder with no scene remaining except for the Patent and serial number line, and the serial number itself is indistinct, but looks as if it MAY be matching. Scattered medium-heavy pitting on grey-brown metal, grips show heavy wear and hard use; no cartouches remain. This old Civil War veteran is certainly not some pristeen unused “dresser drawer queen” …it has definitely “seen the elephant”, as the saying goes ….and they probably even stepped on this old Colt a few times!! Just a battle weary and very heavily used old Civil War veteran that has managed to be a survivor and could be made to operate well again with a little gunsmithing. Fair-Good as described. $835
