Description: Serial #40L2019, .303 British, 25” barrel with a very good, bright, two-groove bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves along its length. This Long Branch-made No.4 Mk. I*, 1943 dated rifle has retained about 85-90% of an arsenal applied, Suncorite finish with the balance flaked to the underlying blue tinged with a mellow plum-brown patina and mild silvering at the muzzle and along the exposed edges and high points. The non-matching numbered bolt has a commensurate amount of Suncorite along the handle and on the wide safety lug. A milled adjustable rear sight is fitted and there are two small, unobtrusive import stamps: one on the muzzle and one on the left side of the wrist socket. An additional property stamp is present on the left side of the receiver: “B.D.F.” (Belize Defence Force). The forend and handguards have been arsenal refinished to fine condition with minor handling marks and small surface blemishes marring the otherwise fine added varnish and the buttstock has the original oil finish with minor marks and bruises around the butt and a large painted and stamped rack number near the butt on the left side: “38”. A single unnumbered magazine is included which has a lightly faded blue-gray patina throughout. This is a handsome, Canadian-made rifle used by the armed forces of Belize (British Honduras) and rates very good-near fine condition overall. {Ref. “The Lee-Enfield A Century of Lee-Metford & Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines” by Ian Skennerton, 2007} FFL or C&R SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Enfield Model: No.4 Serial Number: 40L2019 Caliber Info: .303 Gauge Info: .303 |
