Presented for sale, you will find a Remington Model 870 Competition Trap fitted with a 30" vent rib barrel.
This is a single shot with a gas reduction system. I shot these back in the 80s when Remington was producing them. The recoil is comparable to a Remington Model 1100.
Back in the day, empty hulls were like gold because all of us hand loaded. If the spent case hit the ground it belonged to the club. Unless you used a shell catcher on an auto-loader the hull was gone. In my opinion, Remington killed two birds with one stone. They built a pump gun with the recoil of a gas operated auto-loader. You got much less felt recoil and got to keep the hull.
This shotgun has been in storage for nearly thirty years. It has seen very little use. It was fitted with a 1 1/4" spacer between the stock and recoil pad which I removed. I replaced the pad but did not fit it to the stock. With few exceptions, clay target shooters replace pads, change the dimensions of the stock etc. That is why I left it alone. You can shoot it like it is, fit the existing pad to the stock, or replace the pad with one of the new fancy "50% less recoil pads". The shotgun is back to the original length of pull.
