Description:
Serial #16766C, .303 British, 25" barrel with a good bore that has a dark pitting within the grooves. This is a 1924 dated rifle that has non-matching numbers on the bolt and matching numbers on the curved, SMLE nosecap. The metal has about 25-30% of the black Suncorite finish remaining which has flaked to an overall dull pewter gray mixing with plum-brown freckling on the balance. Additionally, there is some mild pinprick pitting scattered about and the brass buttplate has a dark yellow-ochre patina. The forend and handguards are in very good shape with light surface marring and handling blemishes while the copper wire wraps are intact and still relatively bright. The wood has scattered bruises and blemishes, heaviest at the buttplate which is also missing a section of wood at the heel, and a small white "10" stencil on the left side of the buttstock. This is a great looking Ishapore grenade rifle and is in fine condition overall. FFL or C&R
