Description:
Serial #1509, .455 Webley, 6 1/2” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This exquisite revolver has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, yoke, extractor, and barrel with the metal retaining 95-97% of the original blued finish that has silvered lightly at the muzzle as well as along the projecting edges. There is a light turn-ring on the cylinder and some further trace silvering around the flutes. The trigger and hammer have about 80-85% of the original bright color case-hardening remaining with some speckled dull gray fading on the balance, and the revolver has extensive British military property and double arrow deaccession marks. The checkered, diamond-center, S&W medallion grips are not numbered on the interior and have only some scattered minor handling marks and small blemishes (mostly around the butt) with very little flattening of the points. The lock-up is rock solid and the mechanism functions flawlessly. Included with the revolver is 2016 dated Smith & Wesson factory letter that lists a shipping date of November 25, 1914, to Remington Arms – U.M.C. Co. in New York City (the purchasing agents for the British Government at the time). This is a splendid .455 Triple-Lock in excellent condition and would make a handsome addition to any collection.
