Description:
Serial #38839, .32-20, 5” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This revolver has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, barrel, extractor, and yoke with the metal retaining 90-95% of the original nickel finish with some minor flaking at the muzzle, some small specks of dark brown freckling visible along the exposed edges, and a light turn-ring on the cylinder with some further mild freckling along the edges of a few of the cylinder flutes. The hammer and trigger retain most of their vivid original color case-hardening with some minor spots of freckling along the sides of the hammer spur and lower portion of the trigger. The checkered, diamond-center, walnut grips are correct but unnumbered, and are in fine shape with some minor handling marks and blemishes on either side as well as a small chip missing from the top of the left panel. A deeply stamped “USP” property stamp is present on the heel of the butt. The lock-up is still tight and the action functions flawlessly. The revolver is accompanied by a 2016 dated S&W factory letter listing a ship date of May 25, 1909 to M.W. Robinson in New York City. The exact meaning of the property mark is unknown, however both the Utah State Prison and United States Penitentiaries are known to have stamped “USP” on their property and it is a good guess that the revolver was once part of a prison armory. This is a very nice example of a desirable, nickel finished .32-20 Hand Ejector with property stamp, that rates fine-near excellent condition overall. FFL or C&R
