ETHIOPIAN SHOTEL SWORD WITH SCABBARD CIRCA 19TH CENTURY. 37” overall with 32” reused French Hussar saber blade with script maker monogram trademark on the ricasso. Also has partial original etching on blade. Traditional and distinctive Shotel style hilt with pommel boss secured by silver Ethiopian coin. Red leather tooled scabbard also of standard style for one of these. Quite scarce compared to other African swords. Reasonably good condition for one of these which always show lots of use.
