Description:
This very fine pair of what appear to be gold electroplated Belgian proofed miniature size Muff pistols, circa about 1850.  They are only 6 1/2" long with a 2" screw-off barrels, one that comes off easily, the other is built to unscrew, but I did not want to force it and it remains attached. Sides of each are Belgian proof marked, (see photos), but have no visible makers marks. Has some very light chiseled very fine scroll work on the receiver, trigger guard bottom, and there is a chiseled cross hatch on the top of the hammer.  Grips appear to be walnut and the grips have very fine hand checkering, with a tiny silver octagon on the back of each for initials, however these are not engraved. Overall the gold colored metal is in good condition with the gold wearing off in places, mostly at the edges of the octagon barrel and has no rust.  Please note, I have no idea if this is gold electroplating or not, I did not have them tested by a jeweler. The nipples are excellent and not deformed.  It appears to be about 13mm caliber.  Mechanically one is excellent (the one that the barrel does unscrew), and the other the trigger has to be pushed forward for the hammer to lock back.  I have not taken these apart to see what might be the issue.  The wooden case is in excellent condition with a very sun worn red inside cover, and a blood red velvet gun rest.  Overall an exceptional find for any collector.  Shipping costs paid by the buyer.  No FFL required.  Patak-Phillips Fine Arms
