Italian Military Youth Carcano Training Rifle. Fires a 6mm Flobert Blank Caliber only, cannot and should not be attempted to fire a bullet through the Barrel. Made for Italian Fascist Youth Party” Opera Nazionale Balilla”, usually with a brass plaque attached to thestock with the child's name, this does not have one attached,nor does it havethe screw marks where one would have been attached.
Issued to boys in the organization “Figli della Lupa” (Children of the She Wolf) ages 6-8. Made in the “9th Year of Italian Fascism”, or 1931, a very early production. Theory was, there were different rifles for the youth organizations, starting with this non-bullet firing one, then the next traning rifle, etc, until they were ready for a full size gun when they joined the army, becasue it is truly a miniturized Carcano, the child will familiarize themselves with the rifle fron 6 to 18! Condition is fair, bayonet droops when undefolded as the spring has weakened over the years,as well as the bayonet has a dent in it, must have see some serious child training! Bayonet will extend and lock in place. Wood is in poor to ok condition for its age, and the metal has gone to plum, please see phtotos. Overall length is only 29.5", or 39.5" with bayonet extended. Made by the same factories that made the full size carcano, this one made by F.N.A. Brescia. Very difficult to find these anywhere, highly collectable.
