A well used example of the famouns "Peacemaker". The acid etched panel on the barrel, "COLT FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER" is still visible, as is the "44" stamp on the trigger guard and the bottom of the barrel. According to the factory letter, this gun was shipped to Hartley and Graham, one of Colt's largest distributors, in March of 1882. From there, it probably went west and saw much use, judging by the over-all wear on the one piece walnut grips. It is mechanically fine and could be shot with black powder ammunition. With the 7 1/2 inch barrel, the one piece grips and the iconic 44/40 caliber, this is a real symbol of the Old West.
