Japanese Type 26, Cal. 9mm, Ser. 505XX.
The Type 26 was produced from 1893 t0 1935 with less than 60,000 produced. However, very few survived the two big wars and the many minor conflicts Japan had over the last 119 years. The remaining factory blue finish is about 85-90%. Please keep in mind that over 90% 0f these Type 26 revolvers were arsenal refinished. This one escaped and was not refinished. The bulk of the loss is found on the rear of the of both sides of the frame under the hammer where there is patches of light surface flaking There are no pits or rust anywhere. The balance would be from some thinning on the trigger and barrel from holster wear and silvering of sharp edges. The original fire blued hammer is about 98%. The wooden grips are excellent, no chips or splits and no points flattened. The force cone and recoil shield do not appear to have seem much use. The bore is fantastic, mirror bright and with razor sharp rifling. The chambers, like-wise. The gun locks up tight and indexes properly. No basic Japanese collection is complete without a Type 26.......$1095
