Description:
A very attractive "Document Pouch" made by well known artist Lally House. Lally is known for her intricate moose hair embroidery coupled with porcupine quills. Per note found in one of the pouches regarding this piece: The design of quillwork is Eastern Woodland from the Great Lakes area. The geometric designs are the earliest designs used dating back to their earliest forms of pottery. The quillwork is done on smoke brain tanned deer, dyed and aged with walnut hulls. All of the quill and silk backing are dyed with natural dyes. The dyes used are traditional to the mid 18th Century, Coclineal bugs, yellowroot, Indigo, wild grapes and walnuts.
