Description:
Cut down P1853 British Cavalry Sabre. Blade is almost 23 inches long. Nice dark chocolate attic patina with light pitting. Iron guard like the ones imported by the South during the Civil War. No markings on sword. Leather grips are very well worn as photos show and a little loose which is common in these swords. Not a detractor but mentioned for detail. 28.5 inches total length. Blade and hilt/quillion are tight. Leather Scabbard is Civil War period. Fits cut down extremely well. Has letters SO stamped on the leather. Stitching is in perfect condition. Great Civil War cut down Sabre. The South cut down many of their damaged swords. Cannot guarantee this was Confederate used but there is a good chance.
