Description:
As the title states I set this gun up as a grouse killing machine. This is a 20 gauge Francotte built in 1932 with 26 inch barrels that I purchased because I felt I needed another Grouse gun (don't we all). This gun came to me with a straight grip, splinter forend, double triggers, checkered butt and 26 inch barrels that were choked modified and full. The gun was in great mechanical condition but the wood was in need of a refinish and the bluing was worn from carrying. Lockup was super tight, case coloring was excellent, there was some wear to the bluing on the bottom of the trigger plate. As soon as I received the gun I sent the stock to Dave Wolf in Waco Texas to have him refinish and recut the checkering. I had him use a satin durable finish that would wear well and handle the moisture and brush that comes with Grouse hunting. There are no scratches, dents, dings, or cracks in the stock, it is perfect. I then sent the barrels and trigger guard to Brad Bachelder to have the chokes opened and the barrels and trigger guard re-blacked. Brad opened the chokes to .000 (cylinder) and .006 (improved cylinder) lengthened the forcing cones and did a beautiful job of the refinish of the barrels. So now I have a perfect little Grouse, Woodcock, or Quail gun that weighs just 5 pounds 2 ounces with skeet and improved cylinder chokes and stock dimensions of 1 1/2 X 2 3/8 X 14 3/8 over the checkered butt. Original case coloring is very pretty, top lever is well to the right, barrels ring true, and lockup is tight as can be. Gun has extractors so your not chasing your hulls in the woods, and lastly the gun has beautiful carved fences that really stand out. While doing all of this I bought several other Grouse guns so I have no need for this one and I've decided to let it go. Price of the gun is $3250 plus $50 shipping to your FFL. This gun is set up just right to get the job done and I broke a 23 with it in skeet the only time I've fired it. Contact me with any questions you might have and as always there is a three day non-firing inspection period on the gun. Letters of work done by Bachelder will come with the gun.
