Description:
SOLD..Antique 1886 Winchester 45-90 octagon barrel. Here is a nice and honest 1886 Winchester. In the very sought after 45-90 caliber. Has the standard 26" barrel. Cody work sheet matches the gun and is included with the sale. All is correct... The S/N is 53745 and made in 1891. The bore is excellent with very strong rifling and very little roughness at all. NO big pits or craters and shows just mostly frosting and is not pitted. Very nice bore in this one and getting very hard to find these with nice bores. The mechanics are excellent thoughout. It feeds, fires and ejects flawlessly. This gun is very accurate. It has the original rear sight. The front sight is a time period replacement blade type. All the markings are excellent as well. The metal is a clean gray patina with no pitting. There is traces of blue on the barrel in the protected areas. The screw heads are clean and not all burred up from tinkering. The wood is pretty nice on this one. The forearm fits tight and has no splits or cracks. Just a couple very small and minor honest dings. The butt stock is nice also but is does have two very small chips out of both sides by the upper tang as you can see in the close up photo. These are small but they are there but are just honest from use and not abused. Has a few honest handling dings and scratches but NO other splits or cracks and it fits tigh to the metal.{see photos}.. Has some very pretty grain figure also and is not all oil soaked like many you will see. Very nice wood and just shows honest wear. This is an honest ole 86 in the best caliber 45-90 and is correct. I am pricing this one about the same as the other one I had that sold rather quickly for $3750... It had a couple flaws also but this one has a better bore so it evens out pretty well. These 86's are getting very costly even in the other less desireable calibers and I do not get to buy many of these in the big 45 calibers any more as they are just asking too much $$$ for them. Here is one that is honest and most of all reasonably priced !!! Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $50 insured shipping. Don't let this one get away !!! It won't last long.
