Description:
***   SOLD   ***   What a find this is: A 20 bore nitro Damascus hammergun with highly figured stock and highly figured Damascus barrels! This great E. Roberts small bore also features 30” nitro Damascus barrels with solid raised crosshatched rib, double triggers, extractors, a cross bolt, and rebounding hammers. The hammers, once cocked, sit below the shooter’s line of sight and you can open the action with the hammers cocked. Serial number is 9961.   ***   The 20 gauge barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” cartridges, were nitro proofed sometime between 1984 and 1989, and were recently rebrowned. The right bore has a diameter of 0.617 and a constriction of 0.003 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.025. The left barrel is bored 0.617 and has a constriction of 0.020 for just about Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026. There is a small dent on the exterior of the right barrel as pointed out in the last photo but it has been expertly repaired and there is no evidence of it inside the bore. Given the fact that the bore was measured at 0.615 when it was reproofed in the late 1980's and I have measrued it at 0.617, which could be just a difference between the measuring gauges used, I believe that the interior of the bore was not affected by the exterior dent.  The rib is marked “E. Roberts 141, Steelhouse Lane & 22, Weamon St, Birmingham.”. Gun weighs 5lb 11oz.   ***   The highly figured stock has a Prince of Wales grip and splinter forearm. Stock dimensions are 14” to a checkered butt by 1-3/8” by 1-7/8”. Cast off for the right hand shooter. The gun has been shot and shows some wear commensurate with its age but has proven to be a solid shooter. It is slightly off-face but locks up tight. A great gun for game or clays. Perfect for The Vintage Gunners Cup  ***   Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance and related charges. I give a three-day non-firing inspection and will only accept returns if gun is not as described.
