Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are right proud to offer this fine example of Winchester's first rimfire repeater, the early takedown version. Made in the year of our Lord 1884, she is in pretty good condition for being 132 years old. The blue has drifted to patina, and the nicely figured wood bears some handling marks. The stampings are fairly sharp and clear, indicating some good care was given to this rifle. Chambered in .22 short, these early rimfires have become the most sought after caliber in the '73. Relatively few were made before the 1890 was introduced, and many collectors get weak in the knees when they see an 1873 without a loading gate. This one features a round takedown barrel. Only a few hundred of these were made, falling between serial numbers 155,000 and 180,000. The takedown pin is all that holds the barrel to the receiver, and this is the only takedown found in the 1873. It also bears the early caiber marking on the barrel. I have seen 2 of these takedowns listed for 9 and 11 thousand dollars in the past year. There is currently a completely restored version here on guns international for 20 thousand. Investors, take note, as I will list this one at 5500 dollars. The bore of the 24 inch barrel has some shine and visible rifling, which is typical of this model. These guns are on loan from a long time collector, and will ship direct to the new owner. If you have been looking for the right 1873 rimfire to collect or for investment,but want the added clout of a takedown with a round barrel, then look no further.
