Description:
Serial #1201007, .45 ACP, 5” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1944 manufactured pistol that retains 97-98% of the original parkerized finish on the slide and frame. There is some mild silvering at the muzzle and along the high edges and projections with some additional light finish loss on the breech-end of the barrel and on the slide lever and safety; this is holster wear from prolonged storage. A few very minor disassembly scratches are also present on the left side of the frame as well. The Ordnance stamp on the right side was lightly struck, but the factory markings, “P” proofs, and “GHD” inspector stamp are still crisp and clear, and the red-brown Colt checkered resin grips are in very good shape with some flattening of the points and minor surface scuffs and handling marks at the butt on both panels. A single correct “C-S” marked, Scovill World War II contract magazine is included. The pistol is housed in its original “Boyt” marked, “US” holster that has light-moderate surface scuffs and wear, as well as verdigris on the rivets, grommet, and stud; and the previous owner's name carved into the flap: “CONTROY”. The pistol was issued to a “Lt. J. Controy” during World War II and was retained in his possession after the war. The pistol was purchased from his son who stated that Controy was not a combat officer and rarely took his pistol out of its holster. This is an excellent, little-used example of an ID'd wartime Colt 'A1 and would make a terrific addition to a collection. FFL or C&R
