Description:
For sale, a beautiful WW2 German SA dagger complete with original sheath and leather hanger.  This dagger is RZM marked M7/85, which means it was made by the firm of Arthur Evertz in Solingen, Germany.  It is what is called a mid to late period SA dagger.  This SA dagger is in excellent shape overall, and the sheath is equally as nice.  The blade is nice and bright with crossgrain showing throughout the blade.  The "Alles fur Deutschand" motto (All For Germany) is still nice and dark.  The RZM mark is also strong, with the darkened areas still retaining 98% of the blackening.  The tip has never been broken on the balde nor has it ever been sharpened.  There are runner marks on the blade from removing the blade from the scabbard but they are light and do not detract much from this beautiful blade.  The nickel plated crossguard and pommel crossguard retain 96% of their plating with some very tiny areas of wear. The pommel nut has been turned tight on this dagger but there is a little play in the handle from the wooden handle shrinking over the last 7 decades.  There are two small scratches on the end of the pommel crossguard where someone likely scratched it trying to tighten it up the last little bit.  The wood to metal fit between these pieces is pretty good and indicative of these mid to late daggers.  The SA button looks great and is fit perfectly.  All of the enamel in the button is still there and glossy.  The inset Nazi eagle looks excellent, and it was fit precisely.  It is tight to the handle and there is no gap between it and the wood.  As you can see in the pictures, the original scabbard is in excellent shape.  There are no dents or defects visible.  The nickel plating looks great on the throat and end piece, and the screws are tight and look unturned.  The original brown paint on the scabbard body is in excellent shape with only a few tiny handling marks.  It would rate an easy 98% or better.  The leather belt hanger is RZM marked L2/60/41, and the metal clip is RZM marked M5/71 over a stamped diamond containing an olc.  The leather keeper loop on the strap has been repaired somewhere along the way with a spot of glue to hold the original stitching in place.   This is just a great piece overall and straight out of the woodwork so to speak.  Other than the spot of glue on the hanger keeper loop, it doesnt appear to have been messed with or "improved" in any way.  This would be a great addition to any dagger or WW2 collection and would be nearly impossible to upgrade.
