Description:
XK98k bcd 4 Long-Side Rail Sniper

The thick-side-wall receiver was developed by JP Sauer in 1943 as a base for the long-side-rail (LSR) sniper system, which improved on the existing short-side-rail sniper platform used previously. The receiver's left side wall was designed with a large diameter, allowing a milled flat to accommodate the scope-mounting base. A set of three retaining screws and two locking pins attach the scope base to the receiver wall. Gustloff Werke was the primary contractor for the LSR system, with smaller numbers produced by Sauer. These late JP Sauer-assembled, LSR-equuipped rifles used Astrawerke-supplied receivers, roll-marked "bcd 4".
This is what we have here: likely unfired, bcd4-marked, and assembled by JP Sauer (marked e/37). The receiver was supplied by Astrawerke (marked "*1") and is numbered 9570. The scope mounts are Waffenamted, although numbered to a different rifle. The rifle is all-numbers-matching, including the stock, bolt, barrel, receiver, mounts, etc. The handguard is correctly unnumbered. The correct, flattened safety is also numbered to the gun. The bolt sleeve is numbered the same, as well as being coded "ghn" on the side. The bolt is serialized 9570n with a "1" on the underside, having been supplied by Astrawerke as well. The extractor is marked "1". The firing pin is matching serial numbered and marked "e". The bolt release is unmarked. The follower is marked "lyr". The sear is marked with an "e" and no serial. The trigger is marked e/18 with no serial. The bolt release is not serialized. The bore is incredible and bright; it may be unfired. The rifle looks to be 99% overall.
The scope is marked "cad" on the body, and serialized "336" on the bell and "44035" on the elevation turret. The scope mount is marked 875x and Waffenamted e/37. The buttplate is the correct, press-checkered buttplate, complete with the primer paint inside! The stock has the laminate supplier code on the end of the butt, partially obscured by the dried paint, and appears to be "Br" and "2 23 4" (see K98k bcd 4 Long-Side Rail Sniper
