Bore is excellent and bright with sharp rifling and only a very few mild rough spots. Action is excellent with perfect timing and lock-up - metal is excellent with no rust, pits, or corrosion and has sharp edges and markings. The barrel is marked "Mfg. for Smith & Wesson by Moore's Patent Firearms Co. " as stipulated in the patent infringement suit settlement brought by Smith and Wesson. Barrel and cylinder retain about 75% blue thinning to a brownish patina beneath. The frame, backstrap, and guard retain about 85% + silver plating. Grips are excellent and show only a few scuffs and one chip on the lower portion from normal handling with about 85% finish remaining. About 8000 or fewer of the Belt Revolvers were made between 1861-1863 and it was a very popular Civil War back-up piece for officers and enlisted alike due to the 7-shot cartridge capacity and easy loading. The "patent infringement" version is rather uncommon and is very desirable as a collectible.
