Payment Types Accepted: Certified bank check,USPS money order Description: Up for sale is a A.H Fox A grade shotgun non ejector. The serial number puts the date of manufacture to about 1923. This is a factory three barrel set. Based on the way the sets of barrels are numbered I would say that it was originally shipped with one barrel than sent back to have the other two added. All three sets have the same markings and are Chromox steel. All sets have 2 ¾ inch chambers. The barrel that was used the most based on the bluing is the 28 inch long choked improved cylinder and improved cylinder the bluing wear is about 90 % the spot that shows the most is around the forearm where your hands would grip the barrels this barrel is a No. 3 factory weight. The 26inch barrels are choked Cylinder in the right and modified in the left barrel there is no stamping to give a factory barrel weight sometimes they where polished off at the factory. Based on the actual weight that is 3 pounds 13 ounces based on factory records this would be a No. 1 the bluing is about 97% . The third set measures 29.5 inches is choked full and full there is no factory weight number stamped. Based on the actual weight that is 4 pounds 5 ounces this would also be a No.1 the bluing is about 97%. Each set of barrels has it’s own forearms that are numbered to the barrels. The wood is in great shape the L.O.P from the front trigger to the Hawkens pad is 14.5 inches the checkering is crisp there is some handling marks on the stock but nothing major. Each of the three forearms are free of any dings or dents and the checkering is crisp. Case colors on the metal work are strong on all the surfaces the receiver irons even have great case color the engraving is sharp this is a superb example of a very rare gun. There is some unique engraving on the water table perhaps the original owners name when it was sent in for service or the extra barrels. On the 29.5 inch barrels the bead is broke off I have a replacement bead made out of Mammoth ivory that will go with the gun and on the 26 inch barrel the mead bead was filed down why I do not know but I also have one to replace it . The replacement mid bead is made out of Ivory color plastic. The gun was went over by Glen Baker of Woodcock Hill in Benton PA, it was completely disassembled cleaned and oiled. There was a problem with one triggers when pulled it would not fire so he replaced any parts that where necessary and this fine double has a clean bill of health. This service was not cheap I wanted to get things done the right way. All of the info on choke and chamber measurements where taken with a Galazan choke and chamber gage and the barrel weight info was taken from the book written by McIntosh. This is a chance to own a rare gun and would make a great addition to your Fox collection. The buyer pays insurance and shipping costs.
