Made of iron with .22” barrel. 39” overall length. Marking near breech: New Model 1859, markings on bbl. Sharps Manufacture Co./Harford, Conn. Markings left side of receiver: C. Sharps Pat. Sept 12 1848. : C. Sharps’ Pat./Oct. 5, 1852, right side of lock: R.S. Lawrence pat. April 12, 1859. Metal markings are readable. Walnut stock with oil finish. Ser. # C,10475 (110475) made between late1859 and early 1860. Barrel, frame and barrel bands are a brown-plum. Wood has feint cartouche under the saddle ring slide with some dents, slivers and dings. Bore and chamber are fair. Barrel line “index” lines up with breech (this means the barrel is original to the gun and has never been changed). Works fine mechanically. Is in overall fairly rough condition, but is a genuine Civil War gun and probably Indian War gun. It has quite a history.
