Description: Spencer Model 1860 Civil War Carbine. 50 Caliber. The 22” barrel model 1860 Civil War model was made 1863-1865 (the 1865 model had a 20” barrel). In 1867 the government had many of these carbines restocked and refinished at the factory to government specifications. Standard Markings on top of the receiver: Spencer Repeating Rifle Company/Pat March, 1860 Oct./5/1852. Metal markings are faint but readable and distinguishable after factory refinish. Rear sight missing. Front sling swivel added by Springfield Armory. Walnut stock with dark finish. Serial # 20336.

Post Civil War Alteration for Above. Altered by Springfield Armory circa1867-1874. 50 caliber rim fire (56-52 and 56-50 interchangeable). 22” barrel sleeved for smaller caliber. Three grooved rifling. These arms are often arsenal refinished and restocked. Markings will often appear weak or thin. They are desirable. Over 11,000 altered.
Condition: Metal good for age. Wood has some small cracks, dents, and dings, but solid. Bore fair for its age. Works well mechanically. Overall, a good Spencer 1860 Civil War Carbine with Stabler cut off device used in the American Civil War and probably Indian Wars. SHIPS DIRECTLY TO BUYER. NO FFL. SHIPPING IS $50 INSURED.
