Quality Consignments Wanted! The barrel date is 11-17. The serial number is 61841. All the parts and wood is Winchester marked. This rifle is not a rebuild or restored in any way. This is a service rifle that has been brought back from the "Great War". The bore is very fine and bright. The original bluing is intact and would rate a 93% condition overall. This early rifle has the five point star in the circle on the left side of the reciever next to the Ordnance bomb. This "star" stamp is only found on the early Winchesters. The trapdoor has the original oiler and pull through cleaning rod. The stock and forend have several dings and dents as to be expected for service use. There are no cracks or splits. The wood has the original finish and has not been sanded or refinished. The original leather sling is dated 1917. This is a very fine original early Winchester that has not been messed with. These Model 1917 rifles in original condition and unaltered are very rare today. These rifles saw heavy service during the war. There were more Model 1917 rifles used than the 1903 Springfield rifles during World War One. This is a very collectable quality rifle of that time.
