Description:
A.H. Fox BE Grade 12 Gauge Side-by-Side
ULTRALIGHT FIELD GUN 6 1/2 LBS.!

General Specs: A.H. Fox, Year 1910, 12 Gauge, 6lbs 8oz, SxS
Serial Number: 16830

Certain guns just make an impression.  Finding a vintage American double in 12 gauge that weighs 6 1/2lbs. is a start.  With American double guns a 7lb. gun is light, a 6 3/4lb. gun is almost unheard of.  Out of literally thousands of guns in my hands, only a dozen or so were ever in the 6 1/2lb. category.  Walking all day for upland birds with a 12ga. that weighs the same as most 20ga. guns is a real delight and a huge advantage in choices of shells and firepower if so needed.  Now add a correct restoration so the gun looks like it just left the factory and you have one heck of a gorgeous bird and clays gun.  The engraving is exceptionally fine and clear, with a great deal of fine English scroll...much better than other early B engraved guns I have seen.  This fine Fox, sn16830 built in 1910, is configured just as it left the factory right down to the chokes.  There just isn’t any doubt in my mind that the early A.H. Fox guns were the best of them all.  The internal parts are highly polished by the factory just as they did on their high grade guns.  Ansley was still at the helm and everything had to live up to “The Finest Gun in the World” slogan.  The wood is original to the gun and is better than most B Grades you will ever see.  The Fox B Grade was the first model to be phased out in 1918, so there are not a lot of them out there, especially with ejectors.  With the great stock dimensions, light weight, and quick pointing characteristics this is a gun you will cherish in the field for decades.  The fact that it will increase in value as you enjoy its use is a real bonus!
