Smith & wesson .38 Safety Second Model DA Revolver - Cal. .38 S&W - 3 1/4" Bbl. SN 31881 (1889-1890 Approx.) - a star suffix after serial indicates return to factrory at some point, most likely for an internal mechanical repair. Perfect bore - bright with sharp rifling - excellent action with perfect timing, lock-up, and ejection. Metal is excellent overall with no rust, pitting, or corrosion - retains 99% original factory nickel with a few areas of minor "dusting" on the cylinder and right side of receiver. Original factory pearl grips - right grip has a noticeable repair at the upper front, otherwise grips are undamaged and in excellent condition. An early Second Model S&W DA Safety in the popular .38 caliber all original and untouched except for grip repair in Excellent ++ condition. A very popular pocket revolver in the early West and a super collectible.
