Webley Mk. VI (R.A.F.) Cal. .455 Ser. 3571XX, Dated 1918.
This MK. VI has not been altered to shoot .45acp. That alone makes it very scarce. Even rarer, it is also stamped on the right side of the frame, that it was issued to the fledgling R.A.F.
The condition is really nice for gun that has seen two wars and is 98 years old.. The wartime finish is about 87-90% . Most of the loss is due to sharp edge muzzle silvering and some slight surface flaking. There is one small patch of tiny pinpricks on the cylinder where the gun must have rested for an extended period..
All parts, the frame, barrel and cylinder match. It has an abundance of British Proofs, Broad Arrow stamps and inspector's marks, as is proper for this model. The grips are in super shape. There are no chips splits or dents.. The lanyard ring is still present . The recoil shield and force cone show very slight use. The chambers are very bright with no evidence of use. The bore, likewise, is bright with sharp crisp rifling, with possibly a scant bit of graying.
This is a really honest Battle of Britain treasure that would be fun to show and a pleasure to shoot......$1895.
