W&C SCOTT 12GA. "BEST GUN" SIDE BY SIDE 28" BY ORVIS OF VERMONT. Serial number "146XXX" handcut on lower tang, stamped on forend and water table. Choked "Imp Cyl" and "imp Mod" as so hand engraved on underside of barrels. 28" original blued barrels with solid raised rib. Barrel address "W. & C. Scott (Gunmakers) Ltd. Birmingham" on right barrel and "Orvis. Manchester. Vermont- 12 Gauge" on left barrel hand engraved. Like new condition for 2 3/4" shells as marked on barrel flats along with other British proofs. Proofed up to 3 1/4 dram ammo. Automatic ejectors. Checkering is crisp like new in typical British fashion. Buttstock measures 14 1/4" LOP from double triggers to leather covered pad. Semi pistol grip. Round body action with all screws unturned. Original blue is 100%. Underside of receiver hand engraved "Orvis/ Best Gun". No dings with only a few minor scratches from minimal use. Gold escutcheon oval plate in buttstock engraved with owner's single initial "G". Circa late 1970's. Like new unused condition. Would make a nice game gun or sporting clays gun for not much money for those wanting a side by side British made gun.
