Description:
VERY EARLY CHARLES DALY HAMMER 12GA. DAMASCUS SHOTGUN, CIRCA 1870'S. Low serial number "11X" on water table, forend and barrels. Birmingham proof "PB" in circle. Typical German style parts of the period with British fit and finish. Various German makers were providing components just as Lindner did after 1874 so this one pre-Lindner with no other markings. Fine damascus 26" barrels choked mod and light mod in that order. 26" barrels are correct(longer barrels are the norm during this period). 2 9/16 chambers. Forend wood missing ebony or similar end cap and some wood loss and hairline. Screws engraved and case colors still present on hardware. Receiver very tight like the day it was made and ready to be shot today.Original case colors on frame overall with original blue lever. Original hammers in perfect working order. Swamped rib original with address. Lifters as per the period. Straight english style buttstock with 13 3/4" LOP. Wrist crack from tang to tang with some wood loss. Original buttplate of horn or hard rubber. Brilliant example in need of some TLC to wood will make it a nice shooter or small gauge gun with some drop in tubes. Made for the American market. Weighs 7lbs.
