Description:
REDUCED PRICE!!!   This fine 19th century double barrel 12 gauge percussion muzzle-loader shotgun was built by the London, England gun maker Alden & Smith….a rare shotgun from a less known English gunsmith. Features 29” Damascus steel barrels. Overall length approximately 46 inches. With brass-tipped wooden ramrod. Markings include “Alden & Smith” engraved on both lock plates, and “Alden & Smith Picadilly London” engraved in the concave top rib of barrel. Finely detailed engraving adorning the lock plates, hammers, tang, and trigger guard…. worn away in some areas. Actions work fine, and hammers hold at full and half cock. Bores are good. Stock is solid and nicely checkered at the wrist and stock forearm. Edges of the stock forearm on left side show some slight wood loss along the edge, and also about 2-1/2” of wood loss under the right hand lock plate and both areas have been smoothed over…indicating the stock was refinished at some time long ago. Superficial scratch on the right barrel side just behind the front ramrod pipe. Please view photos for details and condition. Antique - no FFL needed.
