Description:
SOLD. Rare 1855 Harper's Ferry Rifle (1860 marked) most likely Richmond Confederate Arsenal modified to cut down one band Carbine. Barrel Cut to 27 inches. Total length 43 inches. Off center U characteristic of Richmond Arsenal on barrel band. No US marking visible on butt plate also characteristic of Richmond Arsenal. Has Maynard Primer system present. Rear site missing but has T shape Richmond characteristic rear site channel. Stock is solid with no cracks. Normal wear and tear... One small stress crack on right front fore arm. Proper 1855 Harper's Ferry ramrod. Patina turning to brown. Attic find condition not cleaned. Action works well. Patch box door missing. These 1855 Harper's Ferry rifles and parts fell into Confederate hands when General Stonewall Jackson captured the Harper's Ferry Arsenal in 1861.
