Description:
Fox C 16 Gauge Side-by-Side   **REDUCED PRICE**
6LBS, GORGEOUS WOOD, NICE

General Specs: Fox, Year 1912, 16 Gauge, 6lbs, SxS
Serial Number: 300061

This is a small bore Fox produced in the first year of production of Ansley’s wonderful small framed guns.  1912 vintage with serial number 300061, it is the 61rst 16ga. graded gun on the records.  The graded 16ga. Fox gun serialization started at 300,000.  There are some differences in the early graded small bore guns.  First they were produced with top quality only.  The forend was attached with the 1911 snap on mechanism that was superior to the Deeley latch system, as it put constant pressure on the knuckle of the receiver and took up wear as the gun was shot in.  The wood was usually better in the early days, and the engraving was delicate English scroll with game scenes.  We have the factory order card on this gun and it shipped the way you see it in the way of barrels and chokes, stock, weight, etc.  It even specifies "must be nice gun" which would mean premium wood would have been chosen for the gun.  Ordered by J. M. Reynolds and the stock shield has his initials JRM.

This is truly a delightful little Fox, weighing just 6lbs. and balanced ½” forward of the hinge pin for a wonderful mount and dynamic handling characteristics.  If you have ever handled a Fox 16ga. you know what I am talking about.  The gun is eye candy if you love wood, and I do not know many gun guys that don’t.  Having a first year produced gun with such a low serial number is nice for your collection as well.  These guns will continue to appreciate so your money will be well invested as you enjoy its use for birds or clays.
