Payment Types Accepted: MO, Check Description: This is an very good, original example of a WWI production U.S. Model 1911 pistol that was manufactured by Colt for the U.S. Army. This pistol was the standard Model 1911 pistol that was produced in mid-1917, right at the time when the United States was entering WWI. This model has the block style lettering and marking (without serifs), with the Rampant Colt behind the slide legend, with the small "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY". The Colt slide is marked on the left side "PATENTED APR. 20.1897. SEPT.9.1902, DEC. 19. 1905. FEB.14.1911. AUG 19.1913" followed by "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO." over "HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." with the Rampant Colt behind the slide serrations. The left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", along with the circled "GHS" inspector proof of Gilbert H. Stewart, the US Ordnance inspector above the magazine release. The installed barrel is not matching to the gun but the original correct blue Colt WWI barrel marked with small "P" and "H" proofs at the chamber is included. It was replaced due to a rusty bore. It still has all the correct early WWI parts such as the Colt wide hammer with checkered spur, smooth flat main spring housing, checkered slide stop and thumb safety. Fitted with checkered walnut grips. The pistol has a two-tone unmarked magazine without the lanyard ring on the base plate.
