Description:
This is an interesting and somewhat unusual gun which has been consigned to me by the grandson of the original Army officer who carried it in World War II. Everything about this 1941 Colt is correct and original.  The details: This gun has been disassembled, inspected and thoroughly cleaned by a qualified gunsmith.  All parts are functional and original, and in excellent condition.  The gun has been test-fired and found to be safe for operation. — Collectors of this type of Colt 45 are always concerned about minor imperfections and/or alterations from the original.  This gun has only a couple of imperfections, which are extremely minor.  All the expected proof marks from the Colt factory are where they should be, and collectors know what to look for and what they mean.  There are many sources of info about which marks mean what, if you are interested.  The slide has the serial number stamped on the rear underneath the hammer spring retainer.  This matches the serial number on the frame, 750810.   The gun has not been modified in any way since it left the factory in Hartford, close to 75 years ago. The original finish of this gun is excellent, with only one small scratch and very little surface wear, and rates about 98%.  The barrel is nice, with rifling acceptable for the age of the gun. The "ColtWood" grips are perfect. The included magazine is correct World War II , stamped “Colt 45 Auto” on base, which very likely came along with the gun as issued-----  NOTE:This offering includes a nearly complete original (not reproduction) leather shoulder holster rig, as issued to a WWII Army officer along with his sidearm. See the photos. More info regarding the provenance of the gun is available.

This fine pistol is an excellent specimen of a disappearing number of Colt guns from the period.  It will be a fine addition to any Colt collection.
