You are viewing one used Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle in caliber 40-82 WCF, one of the original calibers for this model. This particular rifle is serial # 66938, manufactured and shipped in 1892 so it is an antique and can be shipped directly to you assuming your local laws allow it (21 and over please, need copy of driver's license for verification). This is a special order rifle having a scarce 28" full octagon barrel. Also has full magazine and crescent butt. Cody reference sheet is last picture for all the info. This is in great shape. Stocks are sound, no splits, no cracks, no extra holes, never sanded or refinished. Lower tang and hammer show some original case colors; receiver has the typical mottled silver look with traces of case hardening in the protected areas. No extra holes in any of the metal parts and all screw heads except the one holding the mag tube cap in have no screw driver marks, may have never been turned after leaving the factory. Action is butter-smooth and half-cock safety functions as designes. Bore is in excellent condition, no pitting, strong rifling, bright and shiny, at least an 8.5 if not a 9 of 10; tough to find a black powder era bore in this good of a condition. Barrel has drifted to patina with traces of blue in the protected areas and exhibits even coverage. Mag tube is more plum and shows more bluish hue than the barrel, also a nice even finish. Original sights include a very rare full California Buckhorn rear sight with correct elevator and a Lyman bead front sight. Overall a great rifle in a scarce barrel length.
