Description:
Lefever G Grade 20 gauge Side-by-Side Shotgun
SYRACUSE GUN, 80% FACTORY CASE COLOR

General Specs: Lefever, Year 1914, 20 Gauge, 5lbs 11oz, SxS
Serial Number: 72290

Most who pursue Classic American Double shotguns know that Lefever Arms Co. of Syracuse, N.Y. produced elegant shotguns.  The first of the prominent American double  manufacturers to close its doors (1914), Lefever produced relatively few fine doubles; in the range of 60.000 guns.  The records for Dan Lefever’s Syracuse made doubles are sketchy, with only estimated production numbers available.  There were few graded 20 bore Lefevers produced.  Bob Elliot, in his book “Uncle Dan Lefever, Master Gunmaker”, states that less than 6% of all production involved 20ga. guns, with the majority of all 20’s being the DS grade.  There was likely less than 500 G Grade Lefevers made in 20ga., fewer yet with steel barrels, still fewer with the modest scroll engraving on the sideplates.  This gun, sn72290 made in 1914, is a gorgeous little Lefever weighing just 5lbs. 11oz., retaining a strong 80% factory case color, wearing fluid steel barrels with excellent bores, and is a fine example of why these guns are so cherished.  THIS IS A RARE GUN OFFERED AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE.  How many graded 20ga. Lefevers can you find for sale???  With the rarity factor considered, and with nice shootable dimensions and strong factory original case color, this gun can be added to your collection as a sound investment sure to appreciate in value while you enjoy its use.
