Description:
Fox BE 16 Gauge Side-by-Side Shotgun
RARE GUN, 1 OF 186,  ENGLISH STOCK, SST, 5 3/4LBS.!

General Specs: Fox, Year 1914, 16 Gauge, 5lbs 12oz, SxS
Serial Number: 300438

I am a collector of Fox shotguns.  Simply put, I favor them over all other Classic American Doubles.  You will see the word “RARE” used by guys trying to sell their guns.  Most of the time it is simply a word.  The B Grade Fox small bore, cataloged for only 6 years, is one that indeed is “RARE”.  Small bore guns were not produced until 1912, and the B Grade was discontinued in the catalog offerings in 1918, with only 186 ever produced.  When you estimate that 15% may have left planet Earth due to damage and loss, there are likely only 160 or so in existence. Of the 160 remaining, only about 80 have ejectors, and less than 20 or so have English style stocks and SST.  There could not have been a dozen made in this configuration. THAT IS RARE! In all the years spent and all the laps around the country that I have done in search of quality American double shotguns, I have only seen  about a dozen B Grade 16ga. guns.  This gun, sn300438 made in 1914, is a gorgeous BE.  The restored bone and charcoal case color is perfect FOX colors in appearance, the 98% barrel blue is factory original, the screws are perfect, and the wood finish is restored to perfection.  The wood to metal fit and checkering are excellent as well.  Weighing 5 3/4lbs. (as a 16ga.!!!) and balanced perfectly in hand, it is the epitome of a fine handling bird gun.  The 14 1/4" LOP to a butt plate is measured from the Fox/Kautzky SST in the rear position, making it a long length of pull.  If you are a tall guy, we can add a pad and give you 15" LOP to a rear trigger!  With mirror bright bores, 26" Krupp steel barrels choked IC/M, this is the perfect upland and vintage clays gun.  The shooting public has fallen in love with the Fox 16, and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a 5 3/4lb. BE Fox with these features and a gun sure to go up in value. Thanks for looking!
