Manufactured 1856-1864, totaling a few hundred. Serial #3155. Five-shot, .56 caliber fluted cylinder, the barrel retaining almost all of the original blue, now faded, only the slightest wear at the muzzle. 27" round barrel with semi-octagon breech. Original 2-leaf rear sight. Other metal components are a smooth, untouched pewter-grey patina. Topstrap clearly stamped "COL. COLT HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.", left side of frame with "COLT'S PATENT" and date. Mechanics are tight and crisp. Wood overall is smooth and exceptional, free of any cracks, dings, nicks. Wonderful color and almost all of the original varnish finish remaining. Crescent-style buttplate. Complete with original sling swivels, see The Book of Colt Firearms for variations.
