ITALIAN WWI VETTERLI MODEL 1870 M70/87/15 CAL. 6.5X52 MILITARY RIFLE WITH SLING. Complete and original example of this classic rifle of the WWI Tyrolean Campaign. Leather sling is from a Finnish M38 and often seen on these as Finland had access to Italian arms at one time and obviously slings were kicking around the armories so they just put them on whatever rifle they could so this could be part of that Finnish smuggling ring that brought these in following WW1. Nicely constructed with pliable leather and stamped "SA" in square. Metal with blue and brown patina evenly mixed with light surface rust which will clean to nil. No pitting or salt and pepper. Receiver stamped with "Torino" arsenal stamp and other various lttrs in circles and ovals all very legible as never been refinished. Stock with the original finish and crisply struck numbers in stock. Excellent markings on both wood and metal. Bore dark like most of these. All original and otherwise very good overall. Good example and representative piece that may not shoot straight(ammo obsolete) but will clean up nice to fit in any collection. Nicely grained piece of wood.
